Dear Partner,

Re: Improvement Plan monthly update

Today we have published the second of our monthly reports on progress against our Improvement Plan. We published our Improvement Plan, Unlocking our Potential in June and we are continuing to make good progress.

The three key highlights in our July report that is published on our website include:

  • Improving the rotas for our A&E doctors to improve the service to patients and to help improve their work and life balance
  • The launch of our new antibiotic app which gives our clinicians vital information at their fingertips
  • Reducing the number of short term outpatient cancellations by around 75 percent since May.

There is still a lot more to do and I believe that the key to our improvement is working effectively with our staff and stakeholders. As Chair of our Trust I personally want to ensure that we are addressing concerns and issues that are important to you and that where possible we work together for the benefit of our local populations. If at any point you would like to come and see the progress our hospitals are making in person, I would very much welcome your visit.

As part of our overarching public engagement strategy we will also be developing a Local Representatives Panel that will meet regularly to talk about progress against the Improvement Plan and other developments across our Trust, as well as an opportunity for us to hear direct from representatives of our local community about what is working well and what needs to be improved. If you would like to nominate someone to represent you at these forums that would be very helpful.

I look forward to continuing to work with you to improve services for our patients and residents and to meeting you in the near future.

Best wishes
